I wanted to have the sister stand out, have a different kind of purple armour the the larger Emperor's Children commission I am working on. I imagine she was a Remembrancer before the Emperor's Children got into Daemon Techno.

I went for a variety of skin tones, sing yellow and turquoise as the primary colours for the war band with a few touches of green to spice it up. The grey tabards were added to break up the intense saturated colours.

I wanted to create a legion champion using the parts from the Kakophoni boxed set. The leopard print design was inspired by the cocaine fuelled madness of 80 metal hair bands and the paint jobs of late 90's noise marines. The legion is starting to defend into madness, it's not far off finding a Twisted Sister album.

An update on the previous entry - The Emperor's Children Leviathan dreadnought commission. Forge World decals just add so much to a paint job. It adds freehand detail without the stress of actual freehand!

Not only are these monstrously huge miniatures, but they are rather difficult to photograph as well. Like the other Tau suit, I had to wrap my head around painting miniatures in this scale, to to assemble them and learn where the miniatures can take the stress in the pose.

Unlike the other Primus Medicae's I've painted the client requested this to be painted in feared Justerin plate. I didn't want to add blood effects or much in the way of grime effects as I wanted this model to be obsessively spit polished. I imagine the character is quite fastidious, relentlessly cleaning equipment, armour etc.

This model is gigantic! It was quite an education in how to go about painting miniatures of this size. The usual shading and highlighting doesn't work as the size is already there, you don't want to over emphasise the scale while painting.

I just wanted to scream 'Winess Me!' while painting these guys. I wanted warm tones to contrast with the slightly green tones used in the higher shades of the yellow.

Part of a much larger Storm Cast Eternal commission - the Prosecutors! Unlike the other miniatures I wanted to include a counter point to the moody blue hues used throughout and have golden wings.

Remember this colour scheme from Rogue Trader?
These special release miniatures give me the opportunity to look at these kinds of chapters/ marines. You don't need to buy a whole army, just one model to experiment with. You may have noticed that this isn't a straight up grey - and you'd be right. Try adding desaturated blues (like games workshop's Incubi Darkness, or Formula P3's Coal...
