The Cataphractii Pattern was amongst the first Terminator armour issued, and suits of this type were even more heavily protected than their contemporaries. Slab-like ceramite pauldrons housed additional shield generators, although this formidable protection came at the cost of the wearer’s speed, and the trade between agility and survivability meant that this pattern was beginning to decline among some Legions at the outbreak of the Heresy.

The Tartaros pattern is arguably the most advanced form of Tactical Dreadnought Armour, and shares many systems with the MkIV ‘Maximus’ power armour. It provides greater mobility for its wearer than other patterns, with no loss in durability or protection; this has led to great demand for the Tartaros pattern and means that it is particularly commonplace amongst the Legiones Astartes.

One of the mightiest heroes of the Imperium, the Tribune is a link back to the glories of the Great Crusade. The Tribunes are ancient, members of the original fraternity of warriors that won Terra, stormed the Satrapies of Saturn and ventured out of the solar system to conquer the Galaxy.

First designed to fulfil the needs of the Ultramarines Legion, the Damocles Command Rhino was a principal command and control vehicle in use by all of the Legiones Astartes by the latter days of the Great Crusade. Based on the ubiquitous Deimos pattern Rhino, the Damocles is equipped with sophisticated communications, cognis-analysis and tracking equipment, including a powerful orbital-interface secure vox-transceiver. The Damocles provides an unbreakable link between the Space Marine Legion formation in the field and the war zone’s command structure, whilst also providing support for the troops on the ground by directing deployments and calling in focussed bombardments with deadly accuracy.

Dynameis terminator squad.

The vaunted Dynameis formed the shock core of boarding actions of the 33rd assault division sequestered to Belarius' command. Specialising in zone mortalis actions, the Dynameis were recorded to have fought in the Sol System at the time of the siege. Infamously the surviving members formed [REDACTED].

My first batch of terminators are now complete. After reading the rules for Blood Angels I doubt these will see much action in games of 3k points of lower but they make perfect members of a Zone Mortalis force. The models themselves are created from the Emperor's Children Phoenix Terminatos and the Cataphractii resin kit.

The Contemptor Pattern Dreadnought was once a mainstay of the armoured might of the Astartes Legions of old. Larger and stronger than standard pattern Dreadnoughts, the Contemptor’s systems featured many examples of techno-arcana steeped in the sacred mysteries of the Legio Cybernetica. Some chapters still boast these war relics amongst their ranks, and whenever the Contemptor takes to the field of battle, it is an echo of the power of ancient days.

An indomitable warrior whose strength in battle was tempered by the depth of his wisdom, Vulkan was sire to the Salamanders Legion and its paragon. In war, his fury was a match for any of his brothers, and yet was ever mastered by a keen understanding for the destruction he caused and the power and dread responsibility he and his Legion carried as Angels of Death. In all his undertakings Vulkan ever sought to limit needless and wanton destruction, seeing in that a path to ruin and desolation of the soul, shouldering whatever hardship this might bring him or his sons without complaint and absorbing the wisdom such suffering brought, allowing it to forge him into an ever better protector for the growing Imperium. But like the fires of the deep earth, that wellspring of savage power slept but was never extinguished, to be called on when needed, as implacable and devastating as the fires of the turbulent world he called home.

Following the Saint-Saen Crusade’s liberation of twelve worlds in the Segmentum Obscurus, STC patterns were recovered for an air superiority fighter, smaller and more agile than the iconic Thunderbolt. The Lightning has since been disseminated to other worlds with strong ties to the Imperial Navy – notably Bakka and Hydraphur – and production has recently begun within the Segmentum Solar, resulting in the Voss Pattern Lightning Strike Fighter.

With unparalleled speed and manoeuvrability, the Xiphon pattern Interceptor saw increasing service in the Legiones Astartes during the dark days of the Horus Heresy. Based on ancient designs, the void and atmospheric craft carried heavy armaments into battle, allowing it to destroy both air and ground targets with apparent ease. Its pair of twin-linked lascannon and Xiphon rotary missile launcher combined with the Interceptor’s speed and agility to make it a deadly opponent from which the enemies of Mankind could not hide.

The ornate Contemptor pattern Dreadnought known as Hecaton Aiakos has been identified by his distinctive heraldry in a number of the Minotaurs Chapter’s campaigns, spanning several centuries. In the Bifrost Uprising, Aiakos gained notoriety when he was mistakenly fired upon by a detachment of Bifrost Huscarls under the brevet command of Brother-Sergeant Augustine of the Viper Legion Space Marines. Aiakos rampaged through the Imperial lines in retaliation, killing thirty-seven Huscarls and Augustine himself, and ripped apart a Leman Russ which had attempted to stop him. His deadly assault was only halted after he received a countermand vox order from his Chapter Master in orbit.
