Although this does bear a striking similarity to a certain Master of Chaos, this miniature comes from Wargame Exclusive and is a limited edition miniature that I painted up on commission.

Sons of Horus Caulan Reavers Commission. What a treat these were to work with. Ever since Horus Rising I've wanted to create these shock troops for the Luna Wolves. Alongside the Justerin, these offer a Sons of Horus collector the opportunity to break up the sea of green with accents of red and black.

If you'd like to paint black like this check out the Patreon - it's the very first video I released and covers a simple way of painting black.

I didn't paint this, one of my students did who took the basic airbrushing course. The urge to sing 'We all live in a yellow submarine' is still unbearable to this day.

Check out the Patreon for compressive guides, PDF tutorials and fortnightly seminars from as little as $7 per month.

Lord of Prospero, the King in Red is a massive challenge for any modeller. It is a uniquely frustrating kit to put together, but rewarding once complete.

I wanted to paint Magnus in a true metallic metal technique, concentrating on building the shadows with matt colours to contrast with the shine of the metallic pigment.

If you would like to find out how I painted this monster - well you can! For $15 you get access to PDF tutorials, videos and seminars covering any subject brought up. You can also sign up for on to one tution!

This unit feels like it's been on my paint desk for an eternity (clocking in at nearly three years off and on work). I took a weekend to finally finish these guys off. I originally envisioned these as the command squad for my praetor with the hope that Forge World release a Sanguinary Guard equivalent kit.

Having trouble painting Gold?

Betrayed by Fulgrim, the errant House Vyridion shed their previous sea green livery in favour for the purer black and gold of imperial majesty. No gaudy sigils of self aggrandisement, the House instead wore the Imperial Aquila, reaffirming fidelity to the Master of Mankind.

This is a much bigger kit than you may initially think. It's a mini knight Titan (the guns are bigger than a plastic dreadnought). Making large surface areas like this interesting is challenging, especially the gold plates, but with overlapping contrasting colours you can achieve a depth of interest that you typically wouldn't be able to achieve using a brown wash.

The knight's paint scheme was inspired by Master of Mankind  House Vyridion. The simple black and gold marks with Imperial Aquila's was made so much easier using the Custodes transfer sheet.

Sons of Horus Commission.

Chaplain Maelio is the latest in a fraternity of brothers dogged by ill fortune - the average life span of a Chaplain crusading with the 133rd being two years. The grizzled Luna veteran seeks to break that cycle.

The Chaplain's armour presents us a problem in dating. The MKIII boarding plate was largely a relic by the time Faustino took his position, replaced en masse by MKIV within the Blood Angel Legion. Cross reference reveals this armour had the honour of being in the presence of the Emperor at the Triumph of Ullanor and held a ceremonial value within the IXth. With elements of the 18th being sent independently into the void, its numbers swelled by new recruits from Baal, this armour become a physical link to Terra.

Most of you will remember my original Aquailante Faustino. Unfortunately on his first outing in game he lost his life. I roll on a chart after each game and I need to roll a double one for characters to permenantly die (they otherwise suffer minuses to their characteristics, or if successful in their mission have the chance to gain additional abilities). First Aquilante died, then his successor (in personal combat to Angron no less) and a third who barely had time to don the black before his head was taken by a World Eater Warlord.

It felt wrong to keep using the same miniature, so, reluctantly, I replaced the head and the weapon. I magnetised the old helmet to use in Zone Mortalis or zero gravity actions.

Dynameis terminator squad.

The vaunted Dynameis formed the shock core of boarding actions of the 33rd assault division sequestered to Belarius' command. Specialising in zone mortalis actions, the Dynameis were recorded to have fought in the Sol System at the time of the siege. Infamously the surviving members formed [REDACTED].

My first batch of terminators are now complete. After reading the rules for Blood Angels I doubt these will see much action in games of 3k points of lower but they make perfect members of a Zone Mortalis force. The models themselves are created from the Emperor's Children Phoenix Terminatos and the Cataphractii resin kit.
