This was an utter joy to paint from start to finish. I used the second tutorial in the PDF series 'Fantasy Skin Tones' to create an unnatural pallor for this skin.

You can find the PDF tutorial here:

Not only are these monstrously huge miniatures, but they are rather difficult to photograph as well. Like the other Tau suit, I had to wrap my head around painting miniatures in this scale, to to assemble them and learn where the miniatures can take the stress in the pose.

ONLINE MASTERCLASS TUITION

Remember this colour scheme from Rogue Trader?

These special release miniatures give me the opportunity to look at these kinds of chapters/ marines. You don't need to buy a whole army, just one model to experiment with. You may have noticed that this isn't a straight up grey - and you'd be right. Try adding desaturated blues (like games workshop's Incubi Darkness, or Formula P3's Coal Black) to add a bit of a kick to your blacks.

This model afforded us so many possibilities. The client and I decided to go old school and route out the old field police scheme.

This isn't your usual commission.

As many of you are aware, I run one to one online painting masterclasses (details here if you would like to apply), through which I met a gentleman who lives in New Zealand. His brother was getting married in the UK, so what better gift could a sibling (and best man) give than a God Machine painted by his own hand? I set aside three days to complete the project and have me guide him through the process of painting such a large scale miniature, tutoring him on real metallics, heat warping effects and freehand litany design.

Unfortunately the bellicose spirit of the War Hound overwhelmed the best man at the speeches and he ended up screaming 'FOR THE EMPEROR' at a room full of bewildered guests. Don't worry, he wasn't embarrassed, the Nuptias Imperator D plated them off the board.

Many happy returns to the newly Wed couple and the brother who travelled around the world for a panting lesson! Thanks for the socks and the scarf I have now stolen.

Named for the ‘Great Beast’ of Ancient Terran myth, the immense Typhon Heavy Siege Tank was developed by the Mechanicum alongside the Spartan, with which it shares a basic chassis design.
The Typhon’s primary armament is the massive Dreadhammer cannon, and was created in response to a request from the Primarch Peturabo, master of the Iron Warriors. He demanded a Legiones Astartes war engine that could rival the great batteries of the Imperial Crusade Army in firepower, but manoeuvre and deploy at the speed of a Space Marine force.

“He that has eyes to see and ears to hear may convince himself that no mortal can keep a secret. If his lips are silent, he chatters with his fingertips; betrayal oozes out of him at every pore.”
