Lord Fulgrim & Phoenix Spear Retinue. 

I was commissioned to create a Fulgrim with a helmet. Capturing the splendour of the Primarch was quite a challenge as no pre-existing helmet exists. I used The Custodes Jetbike kit as the basis, with the flared out wings from the High Elf Lord on Griffon kit.

I was fortunate enough to chat with the sculptor and the topic of traditional vs digital sculpting popped up. Because of the sped up production on digital sculpts, producing sculpts like this will become less fashionable moving forward.

Which is a shame. This miniature has gravitas, a personality that few digital sculpts are able to capture.  The quality of this sculpt reflects the amazing range of miniatures produced by Forge World, especially with their early work in the Horus Heresy.
