Shadow Spectres Commission

The second part of the Shadow Spectres commission. The phoenix lord and the spectres were painted at the same time so use the same tones, glazes and run along the same through process of expressing the eldritch.

Irillyth Phoenix Lord of the Shadow Spectres

This is my third version of the Phoenix Lord. The client collects a Craftworld Ulthwe force, but due tot he shifting nature of colour scheme amongst the aspect shrines I was given carte blanche to do what I wanted within the sombre context of the world and the aspect path itself. 

I wanted to concentrate on the enrich nature of the Eldar. I wanted saturated colours falling into pure black. The armour is a dark blue with green glazes (indeed every colour on this model has some portion or green, even the metallics) to unite everything.

Irillyth Phoenix Lord of the Shadow Sceptres

Irillyth Nightspear, Phoenix Lord of the Shadow Sceptres.

This model was painted as a competition prize for Dreamlike Gaming. I've painted this miniature before and I felt I had some unfinished business with him. I went for what I call an Eldritch colour palette  - moody blues and greens, purples and turquoise. I painted this with soft highlighting and shading with clean lines to contrast with the rust coloured base.

I created the display base from a spray can lid. It's a cool cheap alternative to a wooden base.

Irillyth the Shade of Twilight Phoenix Lord of the Shadow Spectres

A commission for a friend that I begged him to paint. I knew I wanted a crack at this miniature since the first time I saw him. A really beautifully composed piece that was a joy to hold let alone paint.

Like the other shadow spectres, I painted the Pheonix Lord to make it seem he was constructed solely of light. I used purple as the spot colour to work with the cyan hues of the armour.

The Divine Swordwind; An Eldar Apocalypse Host

I painted the majority of this army in a week from start to finish. Working through a wall of green scropions was an endurance test (made a lot easier by my airbrush). I indulged myself with the Shadow Specters taking a long time to consider the best scheme to highlight these fabulous sculpts.
