I bought this model the day it was released but I haven't painted it (too intimidated by Darren Latham's seminal Sanguinor). Having been commissioned to paint this, Dante and a group of five sanguinary guards, it gave me the perfect opportunity to tackle him.  The above is the result of my labour. It is a stunning miniature, one I hope to paint in NMM soon.  LilLoser P.S you can...

Last week I was finishing up some sculpts and I broke my scalpel blade. Actually, I broke my last scalpel blade, so I had to venture out into the fresh air to get another pack. During my adventure around the craft shop I noticed this rather charming item - it was love at first sight. I knew that my life had just become a whole lot easier. Why? Because now I can race through chain-mail like...

I painted for a friend who won this limited edition emperor's champion in an eBay auction. I wanted to try my hand at zenithal highlighting for the white armour as well as a little transition highlighting for the sword. In order to break up the large flat areas of the model I added chipping to the armour and a freehand design to the cloak. I also broke up the black and white contrast by...

Here is my latest painting commission; a group of thirty Har Ganeth Executioners. This unit was a blast to paint (if not fiddly with those swords). It's a real pleasure to have an all metal unit like this, and I imagine will become a rarity with Games Workshops decision to move their model production over to finecast. Enjoy your metal models while you can. LilLos...

This is my second version of Mephiston the Lord of Death created as a commission. The client wished to have a Mephiston built that closely resembled my own, but with a chalice icon somewhere about his person for his own custom made chapter. The client also wished that I sculpt the miniature without a weapon as he was undecided on whether to arm him with an axe of sword. ...

What is Colour Theory? Colour theory is the practical guidance and study of how colours interact with one another, and how they affect us. When understood and put into practice we can make objects stand out or make them recede, we can make colours appear brighter or duller: colour theory can even help us sell products to people Written evidence of this study first found in the writings...

Hello, I'd like to discuss the tools and materials I use for my conversions. If you feel that you are more informed , or more experienced using the tools or materials I discuss, please say, and I will amend this original post with your comments. Everything I have learned has been through GW hobby articles, websites such as this and good old-fashioned hard-earned-experience. For my first article...

Hello all, I wanted to write a follow up article to the Wet Pallette I did a couple of days ago. When I first started to make palette I didn't understand why my paint didn't sit on the paper like others I had seen online. Upon further research I discovered that finding the right paper within the UK was surprisingly difficult. Every tutorial or forum discussion offered different advise on what...

Lots of work still to go with this one. I'm very happy with how the TMM gold turned out and now I have my new metallic paints I'm hoping to get this miniature wrapped up soon.  I've also been playing with a few classic metal marines and Dark Elf Executioners with the new Vallejo metallics Wikear kindly supplied me with. Warseer runs a Tale of X gamers every year and I may just have the guts...
