Black Legion contemptor Dreadnought. My client wanted a post heresy era contemptor with red under-lighting on the face. It was a nice change of pace to create a 40k version of a heresy piece.

A quick tip for painting interesting black - give the armour a thinned down wash of turquoise and re-apply the grey and white highlights. It gives a little more visual interest.

Emperor's Children Kakophoni

Emperor's Children Kakophoni

I've altered my purple recipe ever so slightly for these Emperor's Children. I enjoy painting Emperor's Children in cooler tones but I have overlaid a warmer purple with a red hue to help contrast with the cooler shades. I think this is wholly appropriate as the Emperor's Children model range moves into displaying the ravages of excess. The warmer red reflects the lust that the legion has become enraptured by, substituting their ideals of sensation.

I feel like a master of Karond Kar breeding fell beasts for the legions of Naggaroth to wage war upon the world. Here before you I have dredged the deep waters of the Acid Ocean for two mighty Kharibydss, creatures of nightmare.

I love the function of the Kharibdyss in game and I thought that GW could have made more of their otherworldly nightmarish attributes. There's something deeply unsettling about a creature that was born in the utter darkness and cold of the deep sea - a being utterly inimical to human mores.

Dark Elf Executioners

Har Ganeth Executioners

The Thorns of the Vineyard. 

The vineyards of Har Ganeth produce a black grape that in turn makes intensely sweet wine and when drunk, has hallucinatory properties. Since the earliest days of Elven settlement in Naggaroth vineyards have been kept and maintained to feed nobles with this peculiarity. Since The Sundering the treatment of the vines has suffered as the Druchii only have one class of citezen; the warrior, and have had to rely on the inferior viticulturists of Bordeleaux.

This regiment of Har Ganeth Executioners belongs to the Grand Carnifex Malvisryo Blackthorn whose generous contributions to the Temple of Khaine (through the profits generated by the Blood Grape - one of many breed of grape that grows in the region) have secured him the permanent use of Khaine's finest warrirors to protect his interests and his vines. "Thorn Company" act as a strong detterent to rival wine Barons not to sabotage Malvisryo's crops. 

The Thron embroidered cloak worn by the executioners were furnished by Malviryo and so was the banner - a Stylized skull against a field of crimson and thorn.

Sinnevar The Glutton, 11th Comapny Detachment

Pict Capture Terra Primus Ultimus

In life Sinnevar was the vaunted captain of the 11th company subjugating the Graphin and Laycrost systems during the Great Crusade. He held an independent command to the legion at large, instigating wars of cleansing against Xenos settlements that lay on the periphery to the eighth's advance. 

When the Heresy burnt the world of Istvaan V to ash, incinerating the loyalist legions, Sinnevar's cohort was held in the reserve companies leading the execution duties of the wounded. The Glutton earned his name by eating the dead of Istvaan, consuming the valuable geneseed of the fallen loyalists. This act would mark the 11th as the Eaters of the Dead. 

Sinnevar was elevated to the chassis of the Contemptor class dreadnought after Konrad Curze throttled the captain to death in a fit of melancholia. The honour of receiving such a death from the Primarch elevated this unremarkable warrior to be interred in one of the legions most prized relics.
